Meet the Lads

Jay Nixon

as Paul McCartney

The youngest member of Britain’s Finest, Jay Nixon joined the Beatle-business seemingly out of nowhere in August 2021. Jay has been performing on stage in community theater and choir since the age of 7. He first began guitar lessons around entering middle school, though Jay really got his start as a Beatle super fan around 2009 when he convinced his mom to buy him The Beatles Rock Band video game to play with his friends. Jay began building up his collection of The Beatles’ discography on CD and would listen to them nearly every day on his iPod on bus rides to and from school.

Ruben Amaya originally found Jay performing in his local band The Extrangers in 2017 and took notice of his stage presence and Beatlesque bass. Upon the departure of original member Benjamin Chadwick, Ruben contacted Jay about joining in February of 2021. Jay began working with Ruben and Robert on his Paul-Sona, vocal harmonies, performance, and most importantly re-teaching himself how to play bass left-handed. He took advantage during the COVID lockdowns while staying home and attending his college classes for his B.S. in Mathematics Education via zoom at CSULB.

Since then, Jay has progressed tremendously and continues to work on being the best Paul impersonator he can be. Jay does a lot of work behind the scenes for the band as well including designing flyers, marketing/promoting shows, photo editing, merch designing, and authoring the monthly newsletter for the band.

Ruben Amaya

as John Lennon

Ruben has always been a John Lennon fan and enjoyed singing along to Lennon songs. Ruben comes from a background in theater arts and is also a formally trained singer, having performed in numerous plays and live solo performances.

Ruben saw his first Britain’s Finest show at Knott’s Berry Farm in the summer of 2011 and became an instant Beatles megafan. After attending multiple Britain’s Finest shows, Ruben started his own tribute to The Beatles called “The Beat-Lives” deriving most of his inspiration for the show from Britain’s Finest with his own creative flair. Robert Bielma, the “George” of Britain’s Finest, noticed Ruben’s determination. Eventually, Robert approached Ruben with the opportunity to work with the band as their permanent understudy for the role of “John Lennon.”

Ruben accepted the offer and soon became the show’s principal “John Lennon.” He has also had the chance to use his skills as a voice actor by performing his hauntingly, uncanny impression of Beatles producer George Martin during the show and on the nationally syndicated radio show “Breakfast with the Beatles hosted by “Chris Carter.”

Ruben has proven to be one of the brightest up-and-coming “John Lennon”[s] in the tribute business and will no doubt thrive as a talented performer and artist.

Robert Bielma

as George Harrison

Robert has been an avid Beatles fan as far back as he can remember. Years of listening to Beatles music made him realize he wanted to be a performing musician.

Music has been in his life all during school in junior high and high school band. Robert’s junior high band teacher was very influential in his musical career, as he was a standup bass player in an Army band during WWII and they played a lot of big band songs.

Then, in high school he decided to leave marching band to concentrate on his guitar playing. At the age of 16 he helped put together a Beatles tribute band in which he was persuaded to play the role of Paul McCartney. He stuck to bass and later played with many local original groups such as The Future Villains and the Power Cords.

In 2008, due to his resemblance to George Harrison, he was approached and asked to switch to lead guitar and join the Beatles Tribute circuit. His spot-on portrayal of the quiet Beatle has made him a fan favorite.

As a result, Robert has performed with some of the top national Beatles Tribute bands including the Fab Four and Rain, Robert is one of the founding members and band representative. He has a background in music theory and composition, as well as a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Business, Management, Marketing and Related Support Services.
